Though it may sound like an urban myth - the longbeachae bacteria breathed-in upon opening a bag of potting soil, led to the death of a women in Vancouver, Washington. Her sister is actually a friend of mine - and she, as a Registered Nurse, warns about this stuff. She says to WATER IT DOWN before working with it. And NEVER should a pregnant woman work with the stuff, even with a mask and gloves for protection. Okay, I'm going back outside to turn the compost... Posted by: P.
