I actually spent 3-4 years researching and getting a bit involved in Canadian provincial politics. I have a bit of advice for my fellow K-E supporters thinking of taking a U-Haul up I-5 past Blaine...

a) Canada's falling apart - see http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentServer?pagename=thestar/Layout/Article_PrintFriendly&c=Article&cid=1099349408914&call_pageid=970599119419 - "With the exception of a handful of Liberals cast in the Trudeau mould, and some columnists, nobody seems willing or able to speak up for Canada these days as a provincialist-minded wrecking crew devolves and dissipates Ottawa's authority. The interests of the provinces and the regions, it would now seem, are much more important than the national interest." You can stew on that snippet, for starters. (thanks to THE Warren Kinsella at www.warrenkinsella.com/latestmusings) If you want to duck something worse than here, DO NOT go there.

b) You take for granted fixed elections and genuine free speech and constitutional law... you don't get much of that in Canada!

c) There's only 2 places I'd consider living up there: 1) Windsor West, Ontario and ONLY because my exemplar is their world-class Churchillian MPP Sandra Pupatello. 2) Barring that, somewhere in British Columbia... with a pro-buisness government under old-fashioned liberal (small gov't, tolerant social liberal) Premier Gordon Campbell who's balanced the budget, cut taxes, slashed regulations and fixed election dates. But ONLY because I'd have to flee the great Washingtonian depression of a Gregoire governorship. I've studied what the far left can do to an economy with their megaprojects and tax & spend schemes... that was B.C. five years ago.
