Plumbers Beware

April 22, 2004

Recently, I blogged an item about an attempt by Louisiana state legislators to ban adult movies from in-vehicle video players, on the grounds occupants of some passing mini-van might get a glimpse and be morally compromised. Well, them good ol'boys are at it again. They're now considering a bill to make low-hanging pants illegal, such being a clear threat to the sanctity of the populace. I suppose halter-tops are seditious then, too; maybe even open-toed sandals?

Actually, I'm all for banning porno in passing cars ... I don't see an issue with banning that. After all, driving isn't a right, it's a privilege ... and, unlike rights, priviliges can be revoked if you are "offensive" to others who are practicing that privilege.

I'm really torn up over this proposed law. With low riding pants banned, I wouldn't be able to laugh hysterically at these masters of fashion sense when I see them on the street. But this would come at the expense of the traditional plumbers culture, er..... wardrobe. I just don't know what to think.
