Dems Wipe Out Once More
April 12, 2004
Grassroots Democratic activists are doing their best to ensure George W. Bush is re-elected. Like this sweet, but stupid 72-year-old great-grandma from the The People's Republic of Eugene, Oregon. She's peddling her very own T-shirts and buttons declaring, "Pull Cheney, Flush Bush: It's A Healthy Movement for America." (Scroll down to the second item). In case you don't get it, there's a big toilet in the middle of the picture. And to think she once worked as a marketing director. You might suppose that Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe would get the word out to the rank and file that John Kerry's positives need more emphasis than crude japes at Bush. Then again, McAuliffe is the genius who wiped his feet on a Bush doormat on national TV, as we noted here earlier. "John Kerry. He's Not Bush." Yeah, I DO like the sound of that. Please be careful with the word stupid. The finger you point gives three back to you. Posted by: Janet Stanwyck at April 16, 2004 06:39 PMActually, up here in the boondocks of San Juan Island, we think the message is clear and to the point, and that this "sweet, but stupid" woman at least has the guts to come up with a slogan that makes people think. Also, any person who gets off their duff and tries to make a difference in this election, and persuade people to vote Bush out of office, ought to be applauded for their efforts, not maligned and denegrated. Posted by: Katherine Moore at May 4, 2004 03:34 PMStupid is as stupid does? Saying "stupid" doesn't point a finger, it makes an observation. I "think" that slogan will make more people laugh than think. Anyone with any credible amount of intelligence won't be swayed to vote one way or the other by a cute t-shirt. Three cheers for the woman that is "getting off her a$$" and standing up for her passion... no matter how mislead she is. (But think about it folks... she was a marketing director? She is probably just "cashing in" like M Moore.)
At last count, there were 8 of these spam-like postings to Matt's blog! Posted by: Lorna at June 28, 2004 12:43 PMJa, ja. Aber warum ist das auf Deutsch? Und wer ist Bette? Posted by: James J. Na at June 29, 2004 12:39 AMPost a comment
