Maybe you've got a problem with seatbelt laws - as opposed to seatbelts, that is. Then how about this? Sante Fe, NM is considering a city ordinance requiring restraints for dogs in vehicles.

Next: smoking bans in off-leash dog parks.

Another case of having to LEGISLATE what should occur naturally to anyone who cares about people or animals. And yes, add "no smoking allowed" to it, too !

Does anyone besides myself think it is insane that our state requires us to wear seat belts? Not only is it big bro again, but a scam to get more $ out of us thru fines. I am open to hearing other opinions on why mandatory seat belt wearing is a good idea.
This dog thing is crazy!

When we bless ourselves with an ever richer plate of social services delivered by our government, we naturally also grant these governments greater and greater control over every element of our lives. When an individual's health care becomes the responsibility of society rather than the individual, its a bargain with unforseen consequences. It's quite logical for the State to assert it can regulate behavior when the individuals are not totally responsible for the consequences of their actions. Seat belts minimize injuries in accidents and lower medical costs. When the State or others pay for these costs, individuals have bargained away some of their freedoms to act.
