Europe Versus Al-Qaeda?

Andrew Sullivan says if it was al-Qaeda behind the Spanish train bombings that killed almost 200 yesterday (and that's looking likely), there could be more to come in Europe. The upshot, says Sullivan: Euro-peasers of militant Islam had better begin to GET what Bush and Blair have gotten all along. Somehow this evil puts everything else in perspective, doesn't it? If it is the beginning of an Islamist terror campaign throughout Europe, then we will witness a cultural and military war on that continent not seen since the last world war. We can only hope it won't transpire, that we have managed to keep al Qaeda at bay. But if it does, we can equally hope that the democratic nations of Europe will begin to realize what Tony Blair and George Bush have been warning about for so long. The enemy is clear. The question is not whether it will strike, but whether the West can strike back and decisively defang and defeat it. It's up to Europe now. Maybe now they'll get it. New York, Bali, Madrid.......... Yanks, Aussies and the Spanish. The entire western world and it's embrace of individual liberities and freedom is under attack from a crowd more comfortable with the seventh century rather than the 21st. Seeing scenes from the terror attacks in Madrid created a pit in my stomach, it is the same pit created by the scenes of 9/11 and every terror attack on Israel. I knew that Islam and its evil minions were behind this attack on Spain. I hope that Europe will join America and "strike back and decisively defang and defeat it."
